Josh Lynagh
Councillor: City of Mount Gambier
I'm always happy to hear from locals about issues concerning them in our community. Please don't hesitate to reach out!
Candidate Profile
I'm passionate about Mount Gambier, and that's why I'm running for Council.Through my time running Limestone Coast Community News, working as a community co-ordinator at a local primary school, and being a member of the Mount Gambier and Districts Health Advisory Council, I speak with residents daily about the problems they face which has given me a true understanding of the needs of our residents.Mount Gambier is the best place to live, but there's still an opportunity for it to grow and continue being a city where people can thrive.Rates shouldn't be a cent higher than they need to be to provide our community with essential services and security for our future. I will treat the Council's budget like I treat my own and focus on making decisions that are in the best interests of the residents of Mount Gambier. If elected, I promise to continue to be a strong voice for our community, to maintain a focus on responsible spending and to represent you honestly and transparently.

About ME
Elected for a term of council in 2014 and again in 2022, I've learned a lot about Mount Gambier, what makes it tick, and the potential it has.Growing up here, I've seen Mount Gambier evolve into the vibrant, inclusive city that I'm proud to call my home. With my wife Tara, my daughter Aspen and son Archie, we're excited to see what the future brings for the Blue Lake City.I started Limestone Coast Community News in 2013 which has allowed me to not only be more involved in my community, but by providing a platform for people to discuss issues it's allowed me to have a broader understanding of what people need.Since 2017 I've worked in primary schools, which has only furthered my passion for the community we have here, and building a future that's right for our kids. Working with parents as a Community Coordinator has also allowed me to work with families who want the best outcomes for their kids, and the local services like Foodbank, ac.care, Centacare, and Playgroup SA who provide assistance. In 2018 I joined the local Health Advisory Council, which has given me great insight into the local health system and the needs of our residents, and in 2023 I was appointed the chair of council's Junior Sports Assistance Fund.I hope to spend this term working on creating the best outcomes for our community, with our community.
